About

Your First Dance Co.

At Your First Dance Co. (YFDC), we specialise in offering you your every First dance experience. From taking Your First Dance class, to Your First Dance at your wedding. YFDC offer unique and tailored classes and choreography for all ages and couples. In 2010, we were one of the first studios in Newcastle and the Central Coast to offer a personalised wedding dance and choreography service. This is a growing niche, and we are proud pioneers in the industry.

Our vision is to offer our individuals, families, and couples a service that is uniquely tailored to their personal style, experience, physical capability, and vision. Working towards a love, and invigorating experience, of dance; we focus on the joy of movement not competition or perfection. If you don’t love the experience of dance, then dance itself means nothing.

Creativity in dance is essential to capturing the essence of the dancer. That’s why our teachers work collaboratively with our students and couples in order to create beautiful dance experience. We will walk (or dance) with you as you experience each of Your First Dance moments.

We can offer high quality dance education and choreography because we have highly trained, professional staff who are passionate about what they do. All teachers at YDFC have extensive training and experience in the dance industry.

Music. Movement. Memories

Owner & Dance Instructor
Anne Marie Dox

I had been teaching dance for over 10 years, in a range of styles, before I found my calling. In 2009, when I married the love of my life, I realised that I wanted to create something special with my partner as we approached our big day. I enlisted the help of a dance choreographer and created a beautiful wedding dance that was appreciated by all the guests at our wedding. They said it added something really special to our wedding day. I saw this as a gap in the wedding market, and knew that I needed to pursue it.

Following the success of my own wedding dance, five friends approached me for help with choreographing something special for their own wedding days. I did five weddings in 2010 whilst still working in other dance studios. At this point, my new husband suggested that perhaps I should go in to business for myself. That’s when Your First Dance Co. was born.

Starting in a small garage studio in Hamlyn Terrace, I used those first five couples as advertising materials to build my following and before long, YDFC blossomed into a unique and highly sought after wedding service provider.

Now after many years, YDFC has choreographed hundreds of wedding dances and continues to be the leading Wedding Dance provider on the Central Coast and in the Newcastle/Hunter Valley region. Not only do we offer customised wedding dances for brides and grooms, we also provide Hens night workshops, father/daughter dances, mother/son dances, bust outs and much more.

I love my role as a dance teacher, and I still instruct at other Dance Schools and gymnasiums on a regular basis. From 2016, we introduced kids dance classes to YDFC, which also continues to grow and expand. Our adult classes have also been a big hit. YDFC is about giving YOU the dance spotlight and having your own moment to shine. I am super motivated to help anyone who wants to make memories on the dancefloor. I admire couples who truly want to make their wedding day special and set out to learn something that is unique and personal. It’s an honour to be part of your dance journey.

Whatever the occasion, I’m passionate about helping you love that dance experience.
