About

Your First Dance Co.

At Your First Dance Co. (YFDC) we specialise in offering you your every First dance experience. From taking Your First Dance class, to Your First Dance at your wedding. YFDC offer unique and tailored classes and choreography for all ages and couples. A growing industry we are proud to say that we were one of the first (starting in 2010) to offer this unique wedding service, and the very first on the Central Coast, and Newcastle/Hunter regions of NSW.

Our vision is to offer our individuals, families, and couples a service that is uniquely tailored to their personal style, experience, physical capability, and vision. Working towards a love, and invigorating experience, of dance; we focus on the joy of movement not competition or perfection. If you don’t love the experience of dance, then dance itself means nothing.

Walking, or rather dancing, with you as you experience every one of Your First Dance experiences. YFDC believe that in order to offer such high quality dance choreography, we must have a high level of training and professional experience. Therefore, the wedding and dance choreographers and teachers at YFDC have extensive training and experience in the industry, and also have full creative freedom.

Creativity in dance is essential in order to capture the essence of who the dancer is; therefore our teachers work collaboratively with their couples and students to create a beautiful dance experience.

Music. Movement. Memories

Owner & Dance Instructor
Anne Marie Dox

Being a Dance Teacher for over 10 years in a range of styles, it wasn’t until 2009, when I married the love of my life, That I knew I wanted to create something special with my partner and my passion for my big day. I enlisted the help of a dance choreographer and created a beautiful wedding dance, which everyone loved and that really added something special to our wedding day. It was this experience that led me to see a hole and an opportunity in the wedding industry.

After seeing my wedding dance, five of my friends asked me to choreograph their own first dances for their big day; I did five weddings in the year of 2010. I was also working in other dance studios at the time, and it was at this point that my new husband said to me “you should go into business for yourself,” and Your First Dance Co. was born. Advertising using those first five couples, with a small garage studio in Hamlyn Terrace, YFDC blossomed into a unique and highly sort after wedding service provider.

Many years later, YFDC has choreographed hundreds of weddings dances, and continues to be the leading Wedding Dance provider on the Central Coast and Newcastle/Hunter Regions of NSW. Also provided Hens night workshops, father/daughter mother/son dance, bust outs and more.

I love to educate and instruct at other Dance Schools and Gymnasiums on a regular basis as well as running YFDC, keeping myself busy and in the industry in all aspects of Dance; and to top it off in 2016, Term 3, I introduced our first lot of Kids Classes which have continued to expand. Plus a wide variety of dance classes for adults!

I’m motivated and passionate about any Bride and Groom whom are willing to take the “spotlight” on the Dance Floor on their Special Day! Or anyone wanting to step out of their comfort zone and to learn what I love to teach. Walking alongside children, parents, and couples with their First Dance experience is a huge honour and privilege I am truly grateful for.
